Royal Jelly Biography by Greg Prato

Royal Jelly were a short-lived group fronted by Johnny Edwards, who briefly replaced Lou Gramm in Foreigner (singing on the group's 1991 release, Unusual Heat) and, before that, was a member of renowned drummer Carmine Appice's best-forgotten '80s glam-metal outfit, King Kobra. After his brief tenure in Foreigner, Edwards assembled Royal Jelly, an alt-funk outfit that landed a recording contract with Island Records on the strength of an eight-track demo. The group's self-titled debut, produced by Matt Wallace (Faith No More), was released in 1994, but when the album sank from sight upon release, the group decided to call it quits.
