St. Louis-area alternative rock station 105.7 released the
Pointessential series to spotlight local and up-and-coming
bands/artists, starting in the mid-90s. When Emmis purchased KPNT in
2000, the series was temporarily suspended - until 2002 when the final
Pointessential release was put out. On just about every release, it said
"105.7 The Point's necessary and indispensable collections of local
music from St. Louis".
