biography

[+] by Mario Mesquita Borges

Constructing masterful junctions in between pop and the most alternative options of rock & roll, the Curtain Society formed in Southbridge, MA, in 1988, with Roger Lavallee (guitar, vocals), Ron Mominee (bass, vocals), and Jeff Paul (percussion). Pursuing their own road on the music scene and building a mystified career since they first got together, the band managed to blend the best of established guitar rock with their very own interpretation. Curtain's first releases were a series of EPs and cassettes trough Apostrophe Records, a logo directed by main vocalist Lavalle. It was not until 1993 that Society decided to sign with Washington-based label Bedazzled Records. The following year, Paul left and was substituted at the percussion section by Duncan Arsenault. Inertia, the unit's first full-length record appeared in 1994, enjoying a consistent success. During the following three years, Society appeared on a series of compilations discharged by Bedazzled before Life Is Long, Still, their second album, hit the record stores in 1998. The band then entered a long hiatus, which they interrupted only to perform several live shows across the country.
