The duo known as Specula (comprised of Specter Spec and Sigh Moan) started out as essentially a noise rock band, but eventually transformed into something entirely different. They released several 7" singles on the Monkeytech and Stomach Ache labels from 1991 through 1995, until releasing their full-length debut, Erupt, on Scat in 1995. It was on this release that the group introduced their new direction -- a Stooges-like sound, with enough attitude to make Iggy Pop proud.
