One of Norwich's few "Supergroups", Basti was formed in the late 1980s
by members of The Herman Herd and Eva Valve. The two bands used to share
a rehearsal space and were both very active in the Norwich Venue
Campaign at around that time. Most of the members were also involved in
The Waterfront. When Basti split up in 1993, four of the members went on
to form Globo.

Since their formation back in the early 90's, B'ehl has earned a reputation for bouncy, jangly pop songs, devestatingly beautiful harmonies, and energetic live shows. According to Billboard Magazine, since the release of the debut album "Only A Paper Moon", "fans of the Sundays, the Cardigans, the Cranberries, the Go-Go's, and, to a lesser extent, the Breeders have been tripping over themselves in anticipation of B'ehl's follow-up album". And now, the wait is over.Led by the sweet vocals of Allison Somers and Melanie Barnes, and backed by the rumbling rhythm section of Bob Somers and Chris Hiebert (formerly of The Bonaduces), this Winnipeg quartet has released it's second full length CD entitled "Bright Eyes", the followup to the critically acclaimed '97 release "Only A Paper Moon". B'ehl disbanded in 2000, with some members reforming as Paper Moon.

Originally known as Fluffy, the New York City trio of Israeli-born bassist/singer Michal Sapir, guitarist Nicolas Vernhes and drummer David Mecionis made one single under that name before realizing how many other bands were also using it. So they switched to one of the song titles on that first single, the even more deceptive Baby Tooth.
The trio was dark and aggressive, with a penchant for long, slow, drawn-out songs, but nobody would have guessed that. One more single — the superb “Jet Lag,” on kindred spirits Versus’s label, Remora — appeared, followed by Rare Book Room, an EP of six slow, pounding numbers offset by Sapir’s understated, quiet singing. The bombast level gets awfully high at times — “Comes and Goes” is especially over the top — but it’s dignified bombast, texturally intricate and often very powerful. (Scan backwards from the beginning of the CD and you’ll find an extra track: an eight-minute live version of the sinister two-note extravaganza “Slide.”) Since the dissolution of the band, Vernhes has been recording other groups at his studio, which is also known as Rare Book Room.
