Guns N' Wankers Biography by Rich Wilson

The brash and fast-paced punk rock of Guns N' Wankers came about as quickly as the band formed and disbanded, leaving behind a slew of singles, most notably 1994's Pop EP.

Formed in 1991 by Duncan Redmonds (vocals, guitar), Pat Walters (drums), and Joolz Dean (bass), the band came about after Redmonds' previous band, Snuff, called it quits. Bringing in Walters and Dean -- who had previously played in the Wildhearts -- the group first went out on tour with the likes of NoFX and Leatherface before recording a selection of demos. With the group filling the gap that Snuff left behind, Sean Forbes -- who had been in fellow punk act Wat Tyler -- helped the group record their debut album, releasing it on his own Rugger Bugger Records in 1994. Spread across three EPs -- Pop, Metal, and Hardcore -- each one derived its style in accordance with its title, bringing together Guns N' Wankers' unique punk sound. Two more tracks appeared on a split single under the title Silly, which featured a cover of the Gillette TV advertisement jingle and another featuring the ingenious use of a doorbell. Rugger Bugger also released the album G N' W. That same year, NoFX's Fat Mike compiled a selection of tracks for the Fat Wreck Chords-released For Dancing and Listening. As soon as the albums were released, the group folded, with Redmonds returning to a reunited Snuff, and Walters and Dean forming their own acts, the Hormones and Dogpiss.

Celebrating 25 years since the release of their only album, the group re-formed in 2019 to play a handful of shows. Original members Redmonds and Walters returned with Consumed's Wes Wasley joining on bass. The original EPs were also remastered and reissued in their entirety as Pop, Hardcore, Metal, Silly: The Complete Recordings '93 - '94.
