LOLLIPOP Dog Piss On Dog 1996

.

AllMusic Review by

Like one of Ed "Big Daddy" Roth's cartoon monster cars come to life, snorting, smoking and drooling, tongue dragging behind the mammoth rear tires, Lollipop's debut album on Amphetamine Reptile gallops from the starting gates wired to the gills. The title, Dog Piss on Dog, may seem a bit incomprehensible, but that's nothing compared to attempting to figure out even a single word Marc says in his sped-up garage stoner drawl. The songs wallop and wail like a beefed up, sped up, burnt up, hopped up, messed up, punked up MC5. This is the band Jeff Spicoli from Fast Times at Ridgemont High would have played in had he been any type of musician at all. Not necessarily garage rock, this is, as vocalist Marc once uttered before a song in a live performance, "Music made by people who live in the garage beneath the garage, but in the basement of that." Cryptic beyond compare? Most likely. On target? Most definitely. This is an excellent, concise debut.
