Artist Biography
by Jason AnkenyTaking their name from a skateboard trick (a variation on the skateboarding maneuver dubbed melancholy), Swedish skatepunk crew Millencolin emerged in the mid-'90s with a sound inspired by Southern California hardcore acts like Operation Ivy, the Descendents, and NOFX. The group broke internationally in 2000 with the release of their gold-selling fourth long-player Pennybridge Pioneers, which adopted a more alternative rock-forward approach. Since then, the band has enjoyed a long and steady career, releasing a string of successful albums like Kingwood (2005), True Brew (2015), and SOS (2019), while keeping the flame of melodic skate punk ablaze.
