Deep Turtle Biography by Mike DaRonco
With their 1992 debut EP entitled Snakefish, the Finland natives of Deep Turtle brought on their hybrid of jazz-noise that earned them the critical comparisons of Nomeansno and Victims Family. With their self-proclaimed sound of "Hardbopcore," Bad Vugum Records released Deep Turtle's debut full-length, There's a Vomitsprinkler in My Liverriver, in 1994. Accompanying themselves with an influence of thrash and even polka, Deep Turtle became the first band from Finland to perform on the John Peel radio program that same year, following the release of their second album, Rip-Off Dokumento, in 1996.
